Kelsey Powers joined The Green Engineer in 2021 as a Sustainability Consultant and brings a strong background in sustainable design, resilience, and energy efficiency across a wide range of building types. She has consulted on commercial, multifamily residential, educational, and municipal projects, with expertise in helping project teams navigate complex certification and regulatory frameworks.

At The Green Engineer, Kelsey leads sustainability efforts for projects pursuing LEED v4 and v4.1 certifications across New Construction, Core and Shell, Homes, and Neighborhood Development rating systems. She also provides guidance on Enterprise Green Communities criteria for affordable housing developments and works extensively on Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) projects, helping ensure that school facilities promote healthy, resilient, and sustainable learning environments.

Kelsey plays a key role in supporting state and municipal projects, including those overseen by the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM). She advises teams on meeting the requirements of Massachusetts Executive Order 594, which sets ambitious energy and carbon reduction targets for state facilities. In addition, she helps project teams address sustainable design requirements under Boston’s Article 37 and Cambridge’s Article 22.

Throughout all phases of design and construction, Kelsey collaborates closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate sustainability goals into project delivery and ensure performance outcomes are realized in practice.

She holds several professional designations, including LEED Accredited Professional with Neighborhood Development and Homes specialties and Fitwel Ambassador. Kelsey earned a Master of Design Studies in Sustainable Design from Boston Architectural College and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy from Union College.
