Chris Schaffner, CEO and Founding Principal, has been appointed to a four-year term as a voting member of ASHRAE SSPC 90.1, starting July 1, 2005. The ASHRAE 90.1 Standing Standard Project Committee (SSPC) is responsible for maintaining and updating ASHRAE Standard 90.1.
ASHRAE Standard 90.1 is a comprehensive energy efficiency standard for buildings, focusing on the design and construction of new buildings, additions, and systems. It sets minimum requirements for the energy-efficient design of sites and buildings, including detailed specifications for HVAC systems, building envelopes, and lighting. The standard is widely used as a benchmark for commercial building energy codes in the United States, serves as a basis for codes and standards globally, and is referenced by LEED and the Living Building Challenge.
“I am thrilled and honored to be selected to participate in the ongoing evolution of 90.1, as we adapt the standard to today’s market needs,” said Schaffner. “I am hopeful that we can evolve the standard to support electrified, efficient, net-zero GHG buildings, and I am especially interested in simplifying compliance pathways for users of the standard.”
Chris has served on the Energy Cost Budget subcommittee since 2022, and his promotion to the full committee demonstrates his expertise and dedication to energy efficiency in buildings.
Congratulations Chris!
