Excellent opportunity to join a well-respected and dedicated team of sustainability experts in the greater Boston area! The Green Engineer is seeking a senior level Building Performance Analyst with 8+ years of experience with building energy modeling and sustainable building design. Join one of the pioneers of green engineering and work on many high-profile energy modeling and LEED projects including high-tech laboratories, hospitals and schools. This position has the option to be remote or located in Concord, MA. Travel to the Boston area may be required.
Responsibilities:
• Manage all aspects of modeling projects, including client and LEED Project Manager Communications (written and oral), budgeting and workload coordination
• Generate proposals consistent with client requirements and company (profitability) goals.
• Monitor, evaluate and provide feedback to the analyst group with respect to technical and financial project performance.
• Create and perform energy analysis techniques independently to evaluate building designs and inform the integrated design process within the proposed budget.
• Review project drawings and specifications to verify envelope, equipment and controls details for energy modeling.
• Analyze energy performance and report the impacts associated with efficiency improvements.
• Report, present and defend the methodology and results of the evaluation through written reports and oral presentations.
• Supervise and train level I and II analysts in project management, efficient modeling techniques, technical writing and management of client expectations
• Review and make recommendations on engineering calculations performed by other organizations.
• Appropriately respond to code authorities (e.g. GBCI, Utilities etc.) regarding analysis methods and results.
• Perform ASHRAE energy audits.
• Assist with other consulting and LEED duties as needed.
• Ensure timely and accurate entry of time and project data in office information systems and archive documents based on office policy at close of project.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field
• 8-10 years’ related experience and ability to perform advanced modeling tasks (e.g. daylighting, calibration)
• Strong time and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience leading a technical team
• Strong understanding of predominant HVAC systems, control strategies and design practices.
• Experience with eQuest, DesignBuilder (EnergyPlus), Open Studio or similar software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; AutoCAD or other computer-aided design (CAD) software is required.
• Knowledge of environmental analysis plug-ins like Ladybug, Honeybee for Grasshoper/Rhino 3D.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1 and other relevant standards
• Ability to perform application specific engineering calculations (e.g. CHP)
• Strong command of “Green Building” practices, policies and technologies.
• LEED Accredited Professional
• PE, BEMP or CEM
• Environmentally minded with a commitment to sustainability
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and profitability
• Demonstrated industry leadership (e.g. USGBC/ASHRAE chapter participation, publications etc.)
Compensation
