In collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, USGBC is hosting a new, live Solar Decathlon Professional Training from June through August. The Solar Decathlon Professionals (SD Pro) Program builds on the success of the Solar Decathlon collegiate competition from the U.S. Department of Energy to provide industry professionals with an opportunity to develop building science expertise and gain practical experience designing zero energy projects.

This advanced-level course is designed for those familiar with general building sciences who want to learn more and apply it to green building projects or teach others. The training is a blended learning experience of online, on-demand content and live virtual weekly sessions:

  • On-demand: Solar Decathlon Building Science Education online series
  • Live virtual: Online weekly sessions with the instructor and other learners for discussion, further instruction and project-based activities. Held on Wednesdays from June 7 to Aug. 9, 5–6:30 p.m. ET
  • A net zero energy building design project activity
  • Cost: $299
  • CE credits: up to 23.5 GBCI continuing education credits

The instructor is Chris Schaffner, PE, LEED Fellow, and CEO and Founder of The Green Engineer.

Thanks to the program sponsor, Carrier, a limited number of individuals who teach or work at a college or university will be eligible for a 50% discount on the registration fee.
