West Tisbury Free Public Library
West Tisbury, MA
The West Tisbury Free Public Library is a 14,000 sf major renovation and addition to the previous library structure. The two-story project provides full-service book stacks, various reading areas with ample natural daylight, and a large, multi-use lobby space within the pine timber-frame construction.
The library has been designed to reduce energy costs by over 37% using high-efficiency envelope construction, mechanical, and lighting system designs. Additionally, the project includes a set of composting toilets and low-flow faucets that aid tremendously in reducing the water demand of the project by over 74% based on typical use patterns by library staff and visitors.
The site has been designed to increase the infiltration of rainwater on-site, and boasts a total of 42% open green space and pervious pavement systems within the bounds of the project site.
