Brown University, Aquatics and Fitness Center
The Nelson Fitness Center and Coleman Aquatics Center is approximately 313,544 square feet, containing 10,000 square feet of fitness loft, three exercise studios, a café, and support spaces. The Center has a heat reclamation dehumidification system for the swimming pool area, and a solar thermal system for the locker rooms. The Fitness and Aquatics Center achieved a total energy cost savings of 28.58% compared with a similarly-sized building.
The building was designed to fit with the contextual and historical surroundings of Brown University's campus. The project achieved a LEED Gold® certification this past January.
